Purpose of wiki. In technology terms a wiki is a content management system where anyone accessing the content can upload, modify and exchange documents and files. For our purpose we are taking the content of what we are learning in MEDT 3401 and organizing and managing it on our wiki pages.
Philosophy of Technology Integration in the Classroom
Before I give my philosopghy of technology intergration in the classroom, I wanted to share this wiki I found on the internet. It shows a good example of a wiki, philosophy of technology intergration, and good classroom examples, all which inspire, motivate and give me ideas especially, the classroom intergration.. My Technology Philosophy:
As an educator, I am on team "Progressivism." I believe Progressivism is the best way to intergrate technology into the classroom because of several reasons. Progressivism has respect for how each individual person learns and takes into consideration the three learning types ( auditory, visual, and kinesthetic). This philosophy is very receptive to change which correlates well with the ever changing ways of technology. In addition to this, Progressivism helps students solve problems in the classroom similar to those they will encounter in the everyday world. Students will be able to use the technology taught to them in the classroom in other aspects of their lives. Another factor in the Progressive approach is that it teaches by "doing." Technology can not be learned as well if one does not actually "do" the activities being taught. There are several other reasons I choose Progressivism, but the last one I would like to mention is that our learning increases when we are engaged in activities that have meaning for us. Knowledge is acquired and expanded as we apply our previous learning experiences to solving new, meaningful problems, and I feel that learning technology is the epitome of this way of thinking.
I would like to leave one last thought, and that is after learning several new technical skills in this class, the one thing that I learned the most, and that will stay with me through my educational career is that I need to make sure I incorporate some type of technology into my lesson plans and teachings.
